The Biblical reason for why I was led to start COPE Foundation 19.

On a cold Friday evening at 11:30pm I received a call from my son Justin. It was January 4, 2019. Justin wanted to tell me how much he loved and respected me and that he wants to be like me. Those words are not unusual. He would say this often. He vented about not being able to see his son who just turned 10 years old that day. His Ex-girlfriend refused to allow Justin to speak with his Son. Justin loves his children so much. Not realizing these would be the last words I will ever hear from my little boy again. When the sun arose, I got the worst call ever. I was notified that Justin is dead. In disbelief, I got in the car and drove to his home. There were several Police officers and medics. After pacing the ground, I was approached by the officers and the local Police Chief. I was asked if I would like to go inside and see my son? They warned me that this is not going to be easy. It never truly hit me until I saw my baby boy lying lifeless on the floor. He had a gentle smile and a warm face. At this exact moment, I screamed hysterically and fell onto my sons still body. I begged him to wake up. I pounded on his chest and screamed. I then cried an ocean of tears releasing a wave of emotions unlike any that I have ever experienced. Now realizing my son is gone. Forever!
The sadness and mourning of my child is and was horrendously painful. But I realized the Grandchildren have no father now. They knew and saw their father often. The children have been separated from any contact with me, the grandfather. I refused to allow this, so I filed and was granted Grandparents rights. I will always keep their Daddy's memory alive.
So now we have the C.O.P.E. Foundation To help all children struggling with all of the emotions of grief, mourning and family separation.

William Matteson is a Motivational Speaker, Certified Life Coach for addiction & recovery Author, poet and Master Martial Arts Instructor. My son died 1-05-2019 from opioid abuse leaving 3 beautiful children behind. I have been clean from heroin since 1981. I love life and cherish every day. I absolutely adore my children and grand children. It is by God's will that I am who I am today. The story of COPE begins.
Kristy Matteson is a professional licensed care giver. I care for clients with mental
and physical disabilities. I am the wife of William Matteson and we
share similar beliefs and passion for this mission. I am a free spirit and value
life to the highest extreme. My favorite hobby is hula hoop. I enjoy Zumba and simply expressing myself through the moves. As an introvert, this is my social activity.

Unique & savvy solutions for all creatives
While all focus is on the opioid abuser, very little focus is on the addict's children. Recovery processes focuses on the individual but not the family. We have designed a healing process called "The Circle of Light". The Circle of Light is broken up into 4 separate entities. As you see from the chart below, we target children only for this circle. All qualified candidates will be screened for the severity of their mental health and physical wellbeing. When the child or children have been chosen for this program, the 4-step program begins.
All eligible children must comply with every entity of the Circle of Light.
1. Social Interaction: The child or Children will be able to attend a fun youthful activity as of a water park, Zoo, nature preserve and many other outlets to allow the children to just be a kid and have a stress free day.
2. Life Coach Counseling: Each child will participate in the life coaching classes to help the children better understand the effects of drugs and how to process their loss. Young minds do not relate to major stresses of death or incarceration. Our mission is that each child will take the burden of the Parents loss off their shoulders and know that they are the victim, not the cause.
3. Physical Healing: By having the children participate in the physical healing entity, they can experience a great outlet through active boxing, martial arts, gymnastics, fitness gyms, basketball and other positive sports.
4. Mental Health Stability can help the children be more productive and conscious in everyday living. Making wise choices is a direction necessary for success. Although this is the final step of the C.O.P.E. Circle of Light, it certainly is not the end. We will continue to maintain a relationship with all the children, and continue to be a resource for their future.
